Background

My name is Ed Muirhead, and I love music - listening to it, making it and helping others make music too. I write and sing songs, play piano, guitar, drums, bass guitar and other musical instruments.

I have worked one-to-one with over 200 students of all ages and led groups of music-making in different settings such as nurseries, primary schools, community groups and residential care centres.

I've seen music make a difference to people, enabling them to be creative and express themselves. I've heard all kinds of tunes, songs and rhythms, and witnessed how much music can mean.

In 2017 I earned an MSc Music Therapy from Queen Margaret University, learning a range of musical and therapeutic skills.

My approach is person-centred, actively listening and responding to the music, sounds and silences of each person I work with.

(p.s. - the name "face the music" comes from a community music group I was invited to lead: f.a.c.e. = fun all-age community ensemble)
